Wasp, Hornet, Yellow Jacket & Bee Control

Wasp, Hornet, Yellow Jacket & Bee Control

Wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, and certain bee species can pose risks to both people and property when they nest near homes or businesses. These insects are part of the Vespidae (wasps, hornets, yellow jackets) and Apidae (bees) families, and are especially active during the warmer months.

Identification

Although often grouped together, these stinging insects differ in behavior and nesting habits:

  • Wasps – Slender bodies with narrow waists; build open, umbrella-shaped nests under eaves and overhangs.
  • Hornets – Larger and more defensive; create enclosed, paper-like nests in trees or on structures.
  • Yellow Jackets – Highly aggressive; commonly nest underground or inside wall voids and are attracted to food and garbage.
  • Bees (including Carpenter Bees) – Generally less aggressive; however, carpenter bees can cause structural damage by boring into wood to create nesting tunnels.

Carpenter bee activity is often identified by perfectly round holes in wood surfaces, along with sawdust-like material beneath entry points.

Common Problems

Infestations can present a range of concerns, including:

  • Painful stings and aggressive swarming behavior
  • Increased risk of allergic reactions
  • Nests located in high traffic or hard to reach areas
  • Structural damage caused by carpenter bees burrowing into wood

While many bee species are beneficial pollinators, their presence near homes or businesses can still create safety and structural concerns.

Professional Removal & Treatment

At Apex Exterminating Solutions Inc., we provide safe, effective solutions for stinging insects and wood-damaging bees. Our services include:

  • Accurate identification of species and nesting sites
  • Safe removal or treatment of nests
  • Targeted applications to eliminate active infestations
  • Preventative treatments to reduce future activity

In accordance with regulations in New York, honey bees are not exterminated. When possible, colonies of Honey bee are safely removed and transferred to a licensed beekeeper for relocation and preservation.
